All About You

Shakespeare once said ‘What’s in a name?’

In some ways a lot…and in others, not too much. But with time, we all grow, change and revaluate.

Today, is All About the Om’s 3rd birthday (where has the time gone!?) and I have been thinking about why I became a yoga teacher, what I love about teaching and what I want to be able to offer my students.

Unsurprisingly, I love yoga. I love the postures, the movement, the way you can feel both emotionally and physically. But I also love the fact it’s about taking some much needed time for you. It is in fact, All About You.

So, some of the eagle-eyed amongst you may have started noticing that there have been a few changes on my website and social media over the past few weeks and this is to reflect the changes I am making to my humble little yoga company.

So, without further ado…welcome to

ALL ABOUT YOU YOGA
by All About the Om

This change in name reflects what I feel yoga is really all about. YOU.

I have always loved helping my students feel good about themselves, encouraging them to take time for themselves, and I feel that this change in name encapsulates this.

I really hope you love it as much as I do, but please, please let me know your thoughts.

And….if you don’t already, please do follow me on Instagram. Perhaps you are unable to attend classes with me, but would like to help a little independent business? Like, share, post about ALL ABOUT YOU YOGA, as every little, really does help.

Thank you for taking the time to read through all my thoughts and I really look forward to seeing you on the mat again (there’s still time to sign up to Monday class, if you would like).

Why All About the Om

“I started having group yoga lessons with Kate about 4 or 5 months ago. I find yoga really physically challenging. After a year out injured I have lost a lot of flexibility and strength (and have put on weight). Kate has been amazing and has adapted exercises for me, where needed, and I am seeing huge progress. Each week I can do something I couldn‘t do the week before and am gradually getting more flexible and stronger. I think I most enjoy the effects of yoga as I leave the class. I feel so alive. Whether it is the blood going to my head, or the me time, or the peace in my head I get when concentrating on the exercises, I end up leaving feeling very renewed.” – Emma S

Yoga, Barre & Brunch

Today we had a wonderful time at our Yoga, Barre and Brunch workshop at The Stable Wellness in Boyton. We kicked off with a yoga flow to wake us up and then an intense barre workout with Emma. After a delicious brunch at Ginny’s Cafe, we returned to the studio for a bit of yin yoga and chocolate meditation, before a relaxing shavasana. You can see a few pictures from today, below.

Yoga & Cacao Event – 21st June

We had the best time on the evening of the Summer Solstice (21st June) which is coincidentally International Day of Yoga too!

This year All About the Om held a yoga and cacao workshop at the yoga yurt at Woolley Grange – Bradford on Avon. This is such a lovely venue to relax in and all equipment is provided, so perfect if you are new to yoga.

The sun was shining, so we were so lucky to be able to start our evening with the cacao drinking outside. Tracy from Chocolate Voyage created a beautiful and lightly spiced hot drinking cacao for us and talked us through the journey that chocolate has taken.

Hot cacao drinking in the sun

The hot drinking cacao was dark and rich, but not in the least bit bitter. I would encourage anyone to try it. You can find out more about what Tracy does here – https://chocolatevoyage.com/.

We moved into the yurt for our yoga session and our students got to open their goodie bags! Each student was given an All About the Om bracelet and a little bar of delicious dark chocolate.

We started our yoga session with sun salutations (it only seemed appropriate!) to warm up the body and allow the cacao to move around us.

Our yoga session then focused on pure relaxation. We held gentle postures, which we could breathe deeply into, for several minutes each. Really feeling the stretch and allowing the body and mind to find peace.

We utilised props throughout the session: bolsters, cushions, blocks and blankets, to help ease into postures and to ensure the utmost comfort and relaxation.

Our guided Shavasana was all about indulging in relaxation. The students snuggled under blankets, concentrating on their breath and were encouraged to focus on themselves, their achievements and to feel good about themselves. The whole evening was all about looking after yourself and enjoying this time, just for you.

I know that our lives are busy, but it’s really important to take time to look after yourself and what you need. Keep an eye out for future events (we have our next yoga brunch on 7thSeptember) – I really hope to see you there.
